Abersoch , although in the northern part of Wales, Abersoch is east-facing as it's on the south coast of the Lyn Peninsula. It is home to many different types of breaks and it sucks in all available south west swell. What the area lacks in consistency it more than makes up for in quality. The two main breaks we are going to concentrate on here are, Porth Ceiriad and the better known Porth Neigwl, aka, Hell’s Mouth. Porth Ceiriad is a popular spot that works best on a higher tide and has several peaks for the surfer to pick from. The swell can bounce back of the nearby cliffs at the eastern end of the bay and produce a wedging wave with steep drops and hollow barrels, but there are plenty of other peaks along the beach offering a more mellow option. Heading east towards the town of Abersoch itself is the sand bay of Porth Neigwl, also called Hell’s Mouth. This is North Wales legendary surf spot with several peaks of fickle quality depending upon the sand bars. To the south is the Corner, a wedging left that peals over a rock and sand bottom, to the north is the Reef, a good quality right that always has a crowd.
