The Student Surf Tour hosted their second event of the academic calendar this weekend at a blustery Tolcarne, Newquay. Universities from around the country, which included Swansea Met, UWE, UWIC, Bournemouth, AUCB, Falmouth, Cardiff, Staffordshire, Bath and Plymouth challenged the howling on shore winds to whittle the field down to two champions.

Men's Finalists were Sam Coad and Tom Perkins (Both Plymouth), Swansea Met's very own Zak Lawton and Gordan Fontaine of Bournemouth. The thirty minute final saw Gordon come out on top, Sam in second, Zak took third while Tom took a respectable fourth. Gordan had yet another surfboard to carry up the infamous Tolcarne steps, a Skindog 6'0 Dumpster courtesy of Ben Skinner's Skindog Surfboards.

The Women's Final saw newcomer Ariana De-domething-double-barrelled-de-Alexandre-sans-serif from UWE pitched against SST Regular Charlotte Bayliss (Cardiff), Julie Royer (Cardiff) and Newquay local Holly Donnelly surfing on behalf of Plymouth. Ariana took fourth place in her first ever surf competition, and was stoked to have reached the final! Julie came third place and enjoyed the surfing so much she surfed right through the awards ceremony. Charlotte narrowly missed out on first place, which was awarded to Plymouth's Holly Donnelly. She went home with a brand new wetsuit courtesy of Gul Watersports.

Student Surf Tour event organisers would like to thank judges Kerry Powell, Andy Sturt, Joe Davies and David Renyard for thier hard work over the weekend, as well as Llyr and Occy from Era for keeping us all healthy and safe.

The event was made possible through the support of Relentless Energy Drink, Gul Watersports, Dogcam, Skindog Surfboards, Adams Surfboards, RobieRobes and Era Water Safety Cover.
