So we heard from Stoker on his Pro tour win, now it's the ladies turn. Gwen Spurlock has had a tough couple of years with a head injury requiring surgery, so to come back and win the tour is pretty sweet, here's what she had to say.

So you're the comeback kid this year, how does it feel to have won the pro tour?
It felt amazing. I wasn't sure what was happening with the tour because a few of the events were cancelled. I checked the ratings and I was leading them so I was super happy. I just tried my best at all the events I did and I guess it paid off, I've had a a lot of support from everyone this year so thats helped me loads. I guess I wanted to come back and prove myself so im happy that that is the end result.

After the head injury was there ever a point you thought, shit, I may not surf again? The thought of going back in the water and having a laugh was the thing that was helping my recovery. If I would have thought about not surfing again it would have just made me more upset. I think my surgeon and family had doubts about it but that's understandable. There has been some points where I can twinge my neck or something and it throws me off again for a couple of days and I still get headaches but from what had happened I think I came out of it on the good side.

What about getting back into surfing, I know you wear a helmet now, but do you ever have any doubts or fears that hold you back in the water? I wear a helmet because a lot of people are extremely careless in the water and you never know what can happen and I guess that's no ones fault but it gives me a bit of confidence when I'm surfing in crowds. There are times when I get a bit shaken when people almost run me over or fall off right in front of me but I guess anyone does.

What's next? You going to take your surfing to an international level and giive the WQS a go, or just concentrate on your domestic dominance?
Well my domestic dominance definately needs some work! haha. Na, I'm not too sure at the moment. I just want to have fun with it again and go on some good trips. I would like to try a few of the pro junior contests to see how I compare to the european girls. I just want to push my surfing ability and keep improving, doing a few international competitions on the way would for sure help boost my ability!
