Through their mutual alliance with US based 1% For The Planet, two of the UK surf industry's leading organisations have joined forces as Loose-Fit pledge 1% of all their sales to Surfers Against Sewage.

North Devon based Loose-Fit, known for its unrivalled range of beautiful, handcrafted surfboards has long been recognised for its award winning environmental initiatives whilst Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) campaign for clean, safe recreational water free from sewage effluents, toxic chemicals, nuclear waste and marine litter. SAS also campaign to protect surf spots from environmental damage, negative impacts on wave quality and to safeguard waveriders right of access.

Key to the new relationship is Mikey Corker, who in addition to his role as Loose-Fit Manager is delighted to have recently been appointed as the North Devon representative for Surfers Against Sewage and will be campaigning for the protection of the coastal areas in that region. "The collaboration is perfect" said Mikey, "we're thrilled to be working so closely with SAS, directly helping to preserve and improve our beaches and water quality, an invaluable asset that we would like to hand over in better condition to all future generations of surfers and beachgoers"

SAS has recently launched its Protect Our Waves (POW) campaign. The POW campaign is dedicated to the protection of coastal areas with good recreational (surfing) wave resources.   POW recognises the growing importance of these areas, including their environmental, health, social and economic benefits, to both the surfing and wider communities.   POW will strive to protect surf spots from environmental damage, impacts on wave quality and to safeguard recreational water users' right of access.

"We are delighted that Loose-Fit Surf Shop has chosen SAS as its sole focus to their donations via the 1% For The Planet initiative. Loose-Fit has been setting a great example as a surf shop putting the environment at the top of their agenda. Their support will help enhance SAS campaigns protecting the UK's oceans, beaches and waves for years to come." Said Hugo Tagholm, director of Surfers Against Sewage.
