German WCT surfer Marlon Lipke has signed up to join the team at boardwear brand Protest. Marlon who is 25 and now lives in Lagos, Portugal, joins Protest to become their main rider for the European surfing team. Lipke joins Sarah Beardmore from the UK as well as surfers from Belgium and the Netherlands as part of the team, and said about his signing "I think I have waited a long time for a brand like Protest to come around. A brand, which gives me support on all fronts. A brand which understands the necessity to market an athlete properly. And Protest is not only doing that. I will have the possibility to get involved in various aspects of the business. I will help them to establish the team and they want me on board when it comes to functional design with their boardshorts and other garments. It is great to have the feeling that someone wants you to get involved. But first and foremost I will obviously do all I can to get the name Protest out there more, while I'm on the WQS trying to requalify for the World Tour."
