Piha, New Zealand It was difficult day for the British Juniors at the Quiksilver ISA World Juniors in New Zealand earlier today as one by one our Under 18 Boys got knocked out of their heats. In stormy conditions and solid waves, the opening round of the Under 18s was completed in heavy rain after the contest had to be put on hold for 3 hours. Stand-outs from the day were Brazilian Gabriel Medina, earning the highest combined heat total of the morning, and local star Alex Dive, keeping the host country's dream of a gold medal alive.
The British Junior Team Unfortunately for the UK, Nathan Elms couldn't find the waves to beat the two frenchmen in the first heat of the day. Next to fall was Croyde lad Alex Baker, before Beau Bromham and Matt Chapman finished 3rd and 4th several heats later. As the surf continues to push in, the girls and our 2 remaining Under 16 boys will be getting in the water tomorrow... which by the magic of time travel, you will be able to watch live online this evening at www.isaworldjuniors.com
