Wavelength Oct Issue 207 Out Now

It was with some anticipation that I sat down to watch the latest remake of Wavelength (out on general release from this Wednesday 21st September.) Could they really improve on that winning formula or would we just see a re-run of the same old plot with the same old characters? Thankfully, with the opening credits still rolling, I was hit with a jaw-dropping image of Owen Wright emerging from the spit of a huge Tahitian barrel and reassured that I was in for something completely different. Wavelength: The October Issue, pulls in a star-studded cast, with the likes of Kolohe Andino and Bethany Hamilton, as well as British talent from Jayce Robinson and James Hick. With the involvement of Lost Atlas Director Kai Neville, as well as Cyrus Sutton and Mikey DeTemple, the cinematography is outstanding, with unusual, fresh angles that put you in dramatic, dangerous positions alongside characters from start to finish. One of the highlights for me is the unseen footage from that recent historic day at Teahupo’o, where we are positioned in the channel with a ringside side and narrated through the scene with Brit photog Jason Feast. Although there are many more plot details and twists that are crucial to this Wavelength, to list them all would be a spoiler. So in summary I would rate this brand new Wavelength with five stars out of five, and recommend it whole-heartedly to purveyors of fine surf films around the country. Wavelength: A Filmmakers Issue is out now! (NB: Just to be clear, it’s a magazine about surf films, not an actual film. We are just trying to be smart.)
The Fear: Jason Feast gets unleashed on 'Chopes, during the Billabong Pro Tahiti
Meet The Makers: Kai Neville (Lost Atlas), Cyrus Sutton (Stoked & Broke), Mikey DeTemple (Sight/Sound) and Fran Derham (First Love) talk life behind the lens
