Cornwall First Watersports Swap Meet this Weekend
Cornwall’s first car boot sale devoted entirely to watersports equipment will take place in the car park above Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay this Sunday. The Watersports Swap Meet, as it is called, will create a huge marketplace where people can sell, buy or exchange boats, surfboards, kayaks, kites and other used watersports or beach equipment. Modelled on the hugely popular swap meets in California, the Lusty Glaze event promises to be a lively, fun day out for all the family; an event where watersports enthusiasts can meet up, share stories, sell their used kit or perhaps pick up a bargain. Lusty Glaze Beach spokesman Nick Webb said: “I know a lot of people who have kit gathering dust in their garages. The Watersports Swap Meet is a chance to dust off their old equipment and give it a new lease of life by selling or passing on to someone who is going to use it.” The Watersports Swap Meet will be held one Sunday a month in the car park above the beach, beginning this Sunday (24 October) from 9am to 1pm. As well as the car boot sale, there will be a bouncy castle for kids, ‘lazer gun’ combat games and a hog roast lunch with live music on the beach. “Although the swap meet is the main event, we hope that mums and dads will bring their kids down for a fun day out at the beach;” said Nick Webb. “There will be plenty going on to keep everyone amused.” Pitches for the Watersports Swap Meet should to be booked in advance by phoning Lusty Glaze Beach reception on 01637 872444. Price information and further details about the event can be found on the website at www.lustyglaze.co.uk
