Earlier today in Auckland, New Zealand saw the completion of the first round of the Boys Under 16's in the Quiksilver ISA World Juniors. It was bittersweet for the British Team with Miles Lee Hargreaves and Luke Dillion losing out in their heats, but Newquay's Harry Timson and Bude's Jobe Harris both gaining seconds and progressing through to the next round. In fairly messy 3 foot waves, Harry narrowly missed out on winning his heat, less than a point behind first place South African Diran Zakarian. Another close heat saw the upset of the day with lone Italian team representative Leo Fioravanti taking out his French, Mexican and South African opponents. With the surf due to pick up tomorrow and stay for a while, we might be seeing our Under 18 hopefuls in the water live later this evening (8am call Auckland time).
