Winter wins the Relentless Energy Drink Super Series

The first ever Relentless Energy Drink Super Series had its final round on the legendary Fistral beach in Cornwall. Local boy Russell Winter (pictured above) took first place, winning both the round and the overall competition.
Fistral beach hosted a nail biting final round of the Relentless Energy Drink Super Series with some intense 6-10ft waves. Winter’s triple win (the round, the Super Series and the UKPT) was all decided in the final heat and it was a close call.
Had First Round 1 winner, Micah Lester, been placed 3rd or above in the final round he would have taken the prize. Winter pulled it out of the bag though, with his final wave scoring 9.1, the highest score of the whole competition.
Russell was ecstatic to walk away with the top prize. “It’s Fantastic to win the event let alone the series, I would like to congratulate my fellow competitors for pushing me all the way and thank the sponsors Relentless Energy Drink for supporting the tour with this groundbreaking series of events" Dave Reed, the tour’s director, was thrilled with a fantastic final to round off the first ever Relentless Energy Drink Super Series. "Thanks to Relentless Energy Drink, this tour has provided a milestone in British surfing where events have been put on at good quality surf destinations and held over a waiting period to ensure good surf conditions. The purpose is to provide what all competitors wish for, an opportunity to perform at their best, in effect provide a 'Super Series'. I would like to congratulate Russell Winter for winning the event and the tour and his fellow competitors for pushing him to the final of the 3rd round to make it happen."
