Newquay
For anybody in the Great British isles who like to tar themselves with the surfing brush will, of cause have been too, herd of, enjoyed or hurriedly driven away from the countries wave riding capital, Newquay. With a reputation for hard drinking stag and hen parties, sunny days lazing on the beach and wild nights out, for most of the image driven under twenty five population this is an absolute draw cord but it is also home to some of the south West’s best surf and some of the country’s best surfers and the conditions can range from small and fun to challenging and very competitive. The main focus is the famous Fistral beach which can be split into several sections. The biggest draw card is low tide North Fistral, with excellent shaped waves, steep drops and sucky barrels. With low spring tides, Little Fistral will start to work with equally good surf. Down at the south end of the beach is South Fistral with a long left point style wave breaking off the rocks through to the beach. There are plenty of other waves in the area, both to the north and the south, including, Watergate and Crantock.
