This isn't Andy b-t-w, it's Dean Morrison - the man of the day and owner of the highest score with a fine 15.17 at the Quiksilver Pro. PHOTO: © ASP / CESTARI
Round 2 is DONE. I didn’t see it on the web cast because I was fast asleep after an insane evening of decorating the hallway. By all accounts it wasn’t perfect and Snapper didn’t chuck up the slurping, sandy tubes we’d all pay good currency to see. Instead, the worlds finest were greeted by 2-3ft fun surf which as the ASP said, was ‘lacerated’ by ‘thoroughbreds and new bloods.’ Andy Irons dusted off the cobwebs and marked his return to competitive surfing after he (narrowly) buried Roy Powers with a 14.57 over a 13.36, which booked him a mouth watering match up with Bobby Martinez in round 3. On the subject of round 3, like General Custer in a continuous Battle of Little Bighorn the annoyingly titled ‘Euro Force’ (Jeremy and Tiago) will get the chance to keep our continents’ hopes alive when they both face Dane and Jordy, respectively. To be honest, if I were them I’d be absolutely shitting it. But I guess that’s why they get paid trucks loads to surf as well being adored by lots of horny young women - and I’m sitting here writing about it. Quite why I am supporting Europe is anyone’s guess because if this was the World Cup and England weren’t in it, do you think I’d give a flying shit if a European team won or not?
