By Helen Sherman Its mid winter and there is no sign of spring. Every morning helpless individuals slip and slide around the icy streets of Plymouth desperately waiting for summer to arrive. For the rest of us women surfers who aren’t lucky enough to be jetting away to a hot country, we have to embrace numb hands, feet and ice cream heads just to get a slight hint of an adrenaline rush. However if you are a fair weather surfer and would rather chop off your right arm than jump into the equivalent of Antarctica, have no fear. There is another option. Situated above the Plym valley is the Plymouth Ski and Snowboard Centre, which boasts to have the longest artificial slope in the South West. Even though it’s not fresh powder from The Alps or Vancouver, it really is the perfect place to practice and learn new skills. Open all year round, you are guaranteed to experience an adrenaline rush and meet new people. If the idea of putting a bikini on and exposing your body makes you shudder, snowboarding tones those core muscles. So to ensure you achieve that perfect beach body, let’s go up the slopes and carve off the calories.
