Speak to any surf photographer or surf videographer and chances are you'll get about 30 seconds of conversation before they steer the subject onto how broke they are.
True, there isn't much opportunity for fat salaries and bankers bonuses when you're taking shots of surfers, but surf paps certainly don't help their cause. You see, the majority of those guys you see stood on the beach training their lens out to sea, or swimming around in the impact zone with thousands of pounds worth of equipment, are gear junkies. Suckers for the latest lenses and newest technology, it is easy to convince ourselves that by laying down some hard cash, that new upgrade will help us get that never seen before angle, resulting in photographic gold or a sick bit of video. So it doesn't help gadget addicts like me who are trying to be restrained when someone invents stuff like this. Check out this video and imagine the new possibilities for following a surfer along a wave and making an insane surf flick. Helicopters, jet-skis and on-board cameras have suddenly become redundant. I've got no idea how much they cost, but I want one...
